Project Update: UT Southwestern Psychiatric Hospital
Texas is making a sizeable investment within the healthcare sector as the need for access to these services rise. Mental health has always been a challenge and with the construction of these new state-of-the-art facilities, the state is making a huge leap towards closing the existing gap of services and access.
UT Southwestern Medical Center, one of Dallas County’s largest providers of healthcare services in the area, partnered with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to address a major need in the state. The new ground up three-building project is moving towards completion as these structures take shape. This project consists of three buildings (five-story 349,158 square feet adult services, four-story 285,265 square feet children services, and a 686-space parking garage). The primary activities within the new facility are eight inpatient units (one med psych, one dual diagnosis, one forensic, two mood disorder, three psychotic), unit occupational therapy and rehab programs, administrative spaces, as well as dining and living spaces.
