DFW Airport Integrated Operations Center
By uniting multiple departments and services under one roof, this new facility delivers exactly what airport operations need to thrive and grow. As the centralized hub for DFW International Airport, it streamlines collaboration, enhances efficiency, and strengthens operational support for the future.
Designed as the focal point for integrated operations, the facility is strategically organized around two essential program elements: the core and the base building. The core houses daily and emergency operations, serving as the heart of the facility, while the base building supports these functions with critical operational resources. This thoughtful layout places shared floors and the Emergency Operations Center at the center, surrounded by support spaces—creating a highly efficient, connected environment that enhances coordination, responsiveness, and performance.
The project included a new precast exterior mixed with curtain walls. The interiors of the facility included new state-of-the-art MEP Systems, raised flooring with high end finishes for Airport Operations Monitoring. Additionally, the building was designed to withstand the winds of an EF-5 tornado which can range from (261-318mph).
The DFW Airport Integrated Operations Center (IOC) is designed as an open office environment containing workstations on a raised access floor providing oversight viewing of surrounding work stations. The project team collaborated to create a sustainable building that would operate 24/7, meet FEMA storm shelter standards and accommodate future airport infrastructure projects—all under an accelerated construction schedule amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
