A Glorious day revealed a new beacon for mental and behavioral health services in dallas county
The new Metrocare Mental Health and Disability Innovation Center was unveiled to the public and greatly attended by donors, advocates, administrators, employees, and local political leaders. Dallas County adds a premier resource to treat mental and behavioral health for patients of all ages.
Motivated by the COVID-19 global pandemic and outdated existing facilities, health professionals recognized that a change was needed to bring new solutions to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to serve an ever-growing population.
Metrocare is Dallas County’s largest provider of mental and behavioral health and developmental disabilities services. It serves well over 50,000 people each year and its outreach extends into services for veterans, the homeless community, social services, and training. The campus expansion project adds a new one-story 46,000 square feet clinic that includes behavioral health service departments for children and adults. The redevelopment project also includes a new 93,000 square feet client services building which is comprised of two levels of Class A administrative office space, a commercial kitchen and wellness center above a mixed-use podium strategically positioned above a parking garage with additional complimentary client services.
Presently, the current landscape we live in has seen cuts to mental health funding across a variety of programs designed to help those who need it the most, so it’s reassuring to see companies, advocates and institutions make investments in the community that will impact lives for many years to come.
The Clinic Building is designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification and the Client Services Building is designed to achieve LEED Platinum Certification. Photovoltaic panels, electric car charging stations daylighting and energy-efficient glazing are some of the key sustainable design features incorporated into this project.
